Here are some of the most important terms you will come across when applying for your visa, and what their meaning is.
- J-1: The name of the visa you are applying for. It is a “non-immigrant” visa and is designed for cultural exchange, like the high school exchange you are about to embark on
- DS-2019: The document EF High School Exchange Year sends you once you have completed all your student application documents – you will need this document in order to begin the visa application process which is why it is so important to finish all your student application documents as fast as possible so you can receive this.
- DS-160: The name of the online visa application form that you will fill out once you receive your DS-2019 form. Once you complete this online form you can schedule your visa interview. Here are some helpful tips for this form.
- SEVIS I-901: The payment receipt you receive by email from EF High School Exchange Year. This confirms that you participate in our program and that we have paid for your visa. You receive this payment confirmation shortly before receiving the DS-2019 form.
